Oh no, my wedding date is already booked!

Wedding date competition is real. Because of the pandemic, couples who had planned on getting married in 2020 have had to postpone their wedding to 2021 which means fewer weekends are available to choose from. Not to worry, with a little flexibility and thinking outside of the box you can still have the wedding of your dreams!

If your venue is already booked you may want to consider having your wedding on a Friday or Sunday —you and your guests can still have a “weekend” together, you’ll just need to rearrange the activities calendar. (The venue you chose will probably be happy to have their property and staff utilized and might even offer a discount) It’s also likely that the vendors you hoped for and thought were booked (think event planner, photographer, caterer, florist, DJ and officiant) will also be available.

You can still have a rehearsal with family and wedding party if necessary on the day before at a different time or location or maybe the morning of will suffice. If you have a Friday evening or Sunday afternoon wedding your guests can spend Saturday doing their own thing or you all can gather in someone’s backyard or at a park for a “pre” or “post” wedding picnic and games. You could schedule a winery tour with a horse drawn carriage or limos, or invite guests on a group hike or jeep excursion.

If you MUST have the Saturday date how about opting for a morning ceremony (with a fun brunch or lunch reception menu, again probably less $)? Your guests with children will certainly appreciate that and you lovebirds will have the whole day to enjoy being newlyweds! Just think, everyone will have the evening free to do whatever they want after the festivities instead of waiting until 10pm to send off the happy couple!

By appealing to nontraditional days and or a non traditional hour of the day to be married you can still have a meaningful ceremony with those who are most special to you in attendance to witness your union and celebrate with you.
